James McKenzie, MRICS
Building Surveyor – Cardea Property Consultancy
James is the Founder and Managing Director of Cardea Property Consultancy and brings a warm, grounded personality to the team and over a decade of hands-on experience across both residential and commercial surveying. He founded Cardea with a clear aim: to offer property surveys that are modern, transparent and genuinely client-focused.
With a background working on a wide range of buildings, from modern commercial stock to characterful period homes, James combines deep technical expertise with a calm, practical approach. James is known for his ability to simplify complex building issues, giving clients clarity and confidence at every stage of their property journey.
Since establishing Cardea, James has remained closely involved in all aspects of the work, from detailed site inspections to strategic client advice. His goal is always the same. Clear reporting, honest guidance and helping clients make informed decisions about their property.
Outside of work you’ll find James playing golf, enjoying a beer and watching Sheffield Wednesday or spending time with his young family.
If James were a building, he’d be a strong, reliable Victorian terrace with solid foundations, plenty of character and just a slightly troublesome back elevation.
Danny Gledhill, MRICS
Associate Director – Cardea Property Consultancy
Danny is Associate Director at Cardea Property Consultancy and combines strong technical knowledge with practical experience. With a background in commercial surveying, Danny is known for his thorough assessments, clear explanations and his ability to balance technical precision with straightforward advice that clients can genuinely rely on.
He plays a key role in supporting Cardea’s growing portfolio, overseeing complex instructions, mentoring surveyors and ensuring that every report upholds Cardea’s high standards. Danny’s attention to detail and methodical working style make him a dependable presence across the team.
When he isn’t delivering property surveys, Danny is a dedicated Formula 1 fan and a long-suffering but loyal Sheffield Wednesday supporter. His passion for speed and football brings plenty of energy, and occasional heartbreak, to office conversations.
And if Danny were a building? He’d be a well-engineered sports stadium. Strong, built for performance, full of atmosphere… but with one slightly worn structural joint — his bad knee needs the odd bit of maintenance to keep everything running smoothly.
Jessica Fenwick, Assoc RICS
Building Surveyor – Cardea Property Consultancy
Jess is a Building Surveyor with over 10 years’ experience in the construction and property sectors, specialising in both residential and commercial surveys. She has a particular passion for older and historic buildings — the more character, the better. Jess loves uncovering the stories that buildings hold and helping clients appreciate a building’s strengths and potential challenges.
Since joining Cardea, Jess has focused on delivering clear, detailed and practical property surveys that give clients total confidence in their property decisions. Her approach is friendly, approachable and rooted in providing straightforward, useful advice, whether she’s assessing a modern office unit or a quirky 19th-century cottage.
Outside of surveying, Jess brings plenty of personality to the team. Her karaoke go-to song is “Tribute” by Tenacious D and she’s been known to enjoy the occasional glass of Prosecco.
If she were a building herself, she’d be an old pub full of character — welcoming, a little weathered in the best way and full of stories to tell.
